Course Description

In a divorce, it is common for a family law attorney to be faced with legal and practical implications stemming from a mental disorder suffered by their client or a child involved. Some of the most common - and deadly - disorders that can be be triggered by divorce are eating disorders. In order for the attorney to be a proper advocate in these situations, it is important that he or she be able to recognize someone suffering from an eating disorder, know the type of help available, and understand how such a disorder can affect the case in question. In this course, family law attorney Steven Dunn will discuss the common types of eating disorders and how they can be triggered, and will cover the ways in which courts consider eating disorders for purposes of custody and visitation.
