The separation of families attempting to immigrate into the United States has been a controversial topic in recent months. During this course, ACLU attorney Bardis Vakili will discuss the federal class action lawsuit filed by his office to stop family separation and require the immediate reunification of all separated children and parents. The lawsuit cites violations of the Constitution’s due process clause, federal law protecting asylum seekers, and of the government’s own directive to keep families intact.
